Future-proof your youth : The power of Preventive Aesthetic Medicine

‘ Reverse ’, ‘ renew ’, ‘ rebuild ’ - few of the many words heavily used in the ever-booming industry of aesthetic medicine to instil a possibility of the impossible , to reverse the one thing that most of us fear most - to age . We all know the big , trendy names like Botox , lasers , fillers , the Kardashian ’ s vampire facials - all aimed to halt time and reverse a 42 to a 24 . Well , what if we took action from the get go ? What if we prevented the effect by being more mindful of the cause ? As they always say , prevention is better ( and likely cheaper ) than cure . This is where preventive aesthetic medicine makes its honourable presence . So , how exactly do we go about it ?

1 . Eat all round and well round When it comes to nutrition , of course many would argue , your 20s is the time to binge and enjoy fries and candy with a jug of beer , while you can . As obvious as this point is , I only commend and maybe to remind , that one can ’ t be too mindful of your diet , no matter the decade of your age . You can still enjoy life while having a balanced diet , packed with antioxidants and essential proteins . Because , trust me , nutrition is a powerful preventive measure , it will pay off on your future self , not to mention better physical and mental health , with rosy , bouncy cheeks even at your 40s .
2 . Targeted skincare & sunscreen Like a broken record , ‘ double cleanse , toner , serum , moisturizer , sunscreen !’, replaying around us , everywhere and with a good reason . Skincare is vital in maintenance and prevention . However , each of us is made uniquely , hence the term I ’ m campaigning on - ‘ Targeted ’. While many labels will say everyone needs a good , hydrating cream , I ’ d like to challenge that and disagree and advocate , before you spend thousands on skincare products , first identify what exactly is your skin type and concern , be it from an aesthetician or dermatologist ; because a rich , creamy product may not be the best option for someone prone to active , cystic acne . If not addressed in early stages , this is how scars form , and man are those hard and costly to manage ! Pair it all with a suitable sunscreen and you ’ re set ! The earlier we identify this , the better place we are at combating what aging will eventually do to our skin and body .
3 . BabyTox Circulating in the fast-paced generation Z , they are calling it ‘ Baby tox ’ i . e . preventive botulinum toxin ( BTA ). BTA needs no introduction ; a very , very popular treatment to reduce fine lines and wrinkles on the face . BabyTox , as its name suggests , is providing a lower than standard dose of BTA and frequency of treatment . The goal is to achieve a nuanced effect , subtle yet flawless finish , and still have natural movement of the face . The idea is to give the muscles a good rest early on , as early as mid-late 20s . This delays the formation of deep , static wrinkles that are formed from movements of the face over the years . A good indicator to start considering BabyTox is when those fine lines decide to no longer be inconspicuous .
4 . Energy-based devices : Radiofrequency ( RF ) therapy , Micro-Focused Ultrasound ( MFU ) treatment Whether its electromagnetic waves of RF or ultrasound waves , the aim is to generate optimal heat that stimulates skin collagen and elastin production , promoting skin tightening and lifting . One of the most sought after , holy grail treatments at 40s and 50s for saggy and deflated looking skin , as it prides with minimal downtime and having the non-invasive option . As we know , collagen in our skin starts depleting by mid-late 20s . By the 4th decade of our lives , the collagen foundation of the skin would have reached a fairly depleted state . So why not set up our forts before the war comes ? Targeting to build a good foundation of collagen and elastin tissue in our 30s could make you stay looking and feeling at your 30s for longer .
As closing summary , aging is not a villain in each of our stories . Aging is a beautiful progression of growth ; to learn , to experience and to live . As long as we live it happily being and feeling our best self . There ’ s no harm in preserving the youth in us .
