MOST SUSTAINABLE HEALTHCARE INSTITUTION OF THE YEAR IN ASIA-PACIFIC

KPJ HEALTHCARE BERHAD
As an established healthcare provider , KPJ Healthcare Berhad ( KPJ Healthcare ) understands that our actions have a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of the planet . Thus , we strive to minimise our negative impacts through effective environmental and social practices . We believe that by connecting with our patients and the environment we can provide the best possible care for our community , thereby creating a sustainable healthcare system that upholds the health and wellbeing of our people and the planet .
In 2022 , we took a significant step in our sustainability journey by revising our Sustainability Framework . Our approach is designed to establish a three-year roadmap which measures and takes action to deal with material matters , and ties back to addressing risks and leveraging opportunities identified by the Group . Our goal is to build a sustainable future while creating long-term value for our stakeholders . Through this approach , we aim to minimise our environmental impact , enhance social and community benefits , and strengthen governance practices .
By incorporating sustainability into our business practices , we aim to accomplish our long-term objectives while simultaneously tackling the global issues of climate change and social responsibility . Our refreshed Sustainability Framework is a key driver in achieving our mission to become a leader in sustainable business practices .

million domestic and international patients annually . Recognising the usage of water throughout our hospitals is extensive , to ensure cleanliness not only for medical purposes but also for general public consumption . In line with this , KPJ Healthcare introduced a Water Harvesting Initiative to support our hospital ’ s daily operations while pursuing the Company ’ s goal of performing as a steward of our natural environment .
This system can range from simple rain barrels to more elaborate structures with pumps , tanks , and purification systems , which can then be used to irrigate landscaping , flush toilets , or launder clothes , and the water can even be purified for human consumption . However , we currently
focus on water harvesting in routine daily work for our hospitals whereby this method indirectly saves 50 % of the monthly cost of water energy .
To date , our KPJ Bandar Dato Onn Specialist Hospital has recorded the highest total storage of rainwater harvesting among our southern region hospitals , with the capacity of 239,600 litres . This initiative is also being used at our latest hospital , Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 ( DSH2 ) with the capacity of 85,600 litres of rainwater for the harvesting system .
While we look forward to an exciting future at KPJ Healthcare , we remain committed to growing responsibly to ensure that our operations and business activities do not harm people or the planet . We will continue to step up our climate action and give back to the community by improving access to affordable healthcare . We will continue to invest in innovation and technology to elevate the standards of our healthcare services . We will also continue to keep our people safe , physically and mentally , to retain our talent as we expand our business to provide better quality healthcare to the community .
