IJN ’ s journey of breakthroughs as a pioneering heart health specialist centre In the fast-paced world of healthcare , change and evolution are imperative to improving people ’ s lives . Amid this backdrop , Institut Jantung Negara ( IJN ) has emerged as a standout healthcare provider in the Asian region , boasting world-class facilities , a highly qualified team of medical experts , cutting-edge technology and patient-centric care .

IJN , or the National Heart Centre , was established in 1992 with the mandate to improve Malaysia ’ s access to advanced cardiovascular and thoracic medical services . Since its inception , the centre has been at the forefront of delivering inventive and clinically proven therapies and techniques , from routine cardiology procedures to highly complex transplantation services . In just over three decades , the centre has amassed a slew of pioneering clinical milestones and become the largest independent heart specialist centre in Southeast Asia . To date , IJN has treated and cared for almost five million adult and child patients from Malaysia and beyond .

As evidenced by its long list of awards , IJN ’ s achievements have gained worldwide recognition . At the GlobalHealth Asia-Pacific Awards 2023 held in Bali , Indonesia , last May , the centre swept up an impressive five accolades in a diverse range of categories , namely : Cardiology Service Provider of the Year in Asia- Pacific ; Paediatric Cardiology Service Provider of the Year in Asia-Pacific ; Diabetes Service Provider of the Year

in Asia-Pacific ; Emergency Care Service Provider of the Year in Asia-Pacific ; and Most Innovative Hospital of the Year in Asia-Pacific .

The centre also looks to international benchmarks to ensure that its quality and patient safety measures are at optimum levels . In late 2022 , IJN received the prestigious Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission International ( JCI ), a worldwide leader in independent healthcare assessments . The Gold Seal of Approval is reserved for hospitals that meet the highest patient safety standards , and involves a rigorous review process .
