With the construction of a new wing set to be completed in the third quarter of 2021 , THKD will triple its current capacity of 205 beds to 600 beds , making it one of the largest private healthcare institutions in the region . With this expansion , the hospital will also be offering nine delivery suites , 11 operating theatres , 154 outpatient clinics , two catheterisation labs , a cancer and nuclear medicine centre , and more than 1,000 car parking bays .
Always quick to adapt and meet the ever-changing needs of the community , THKD was one of the first hospitals in the country to offer a drive-through option for COVID-19 screening . A suite of drive-through services from bloodtaking and vaccinations to medication dispensing soon followed to create physical distancing and prevent possible transmission of the virus .
“ We also launched our telemedicine service – Thomson Hospital Online – so that patients could have appointments with their doctors from the comfort of their homes ,” the spokesperson said .
Recently , the hospital became the first in Malaysia to have a dedicated Headache Clinic . It was also the first in the country to offer the ENT , Head and Neck CO2 Laser treatment . THKD also belongs to a group of four private hospitals in the country that offer specialised interventional neuroradiology services and an acute stroke response team .
