QUEK OG & COSMETIC GYNEACOLOGY CLINIC
Dr Quek Yek Song ’ s obstetrics and gynaecology clinic at Columbia Asia Hospital Iskandar Puteri and Tebrau , Johor , Malaysia , takes a holistic approach to treatment , customising its services to each individual ’ s needs while providing a fusion between the traditional practice of O & G and cosmetic gynaecological art . This , Dr Quek says , is what makes his clinic special and different from others in the field . He won this award twice in 2020 and 2021 .
He obtained vast experiences from Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru and University Malaya Medical Centre as a specialist and clinical lecturer . From these two state and national excellence medical centres , he was able to explore in obstetric care , ultrasound scan , gynaecological operation , laparoscopic surgery , fertility works , and master it .
He persistently explored more into laparoscopic surgery included robotic surgery in World Laparoscopic Hospital , India and won the ‘ TOP GUN ’ competition and obtained the TOP-GUN award . There is no end in searching solution for women . He learned different procedures and surgical skills in cosmetic gynaecology . Furthermore , he created and published a non-suture method for skin closure in caesarean section and a new surgical method to correct diastasis retic during caesarean section . With his new experiences , he was invited multiple times as international speaker and faculty member to share the new ideas .

issues like vaginal atrophy , vaginal or uterine prolapse and urinary incontinence into Columbia Asia Hospital Iskandar Puteri and Columbia Asia Hospital Tebrau . Laser therapy is a noninvasive daycare therapy and doesn ’ t require any pre-operative preparation or fasting . With the new approach , women can be more pro-active to overcome these issues without going through invasive procedures . Another new treatment is platelet rich plasma ( PRP ) injection . It can be used to treat scars , urinary incontinence , and vaginal atrophy . This PRP therapy is to mimic the physiological healing process that is able to trigger rejuvenation and promote better healing .
Furthermore , he also performs different type of cosmetic gyanecology surgeries such as hood reduction , labialplasty , perineoplasty , vaginal tightening surgery to restore the perineal function and outlook .
As an adjunct senior clinical lecturer at the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences , Monash Univer- sity Malaysia , he documented and collected all these new treatment data and outcome for future presentation and publication .
“ This award is a great encouragement for me to move forward and do better . I love learning new ideas and I enjoy my field of specialisation . At the same time , I wish to achieve great things and give back to communities ,” he said .
When performing an operation , Dr Quek not only follows a conventional approach to surgery , he also looks for new ways to solve the patient ’ s issue . He adopts new ideas and methods such as injections , lasers and rejuvenation to recover or enhance function in order to bring about better outcomes .
“ We don ’ t just want to complete the task , we also want to add value by making recovery as natural as possible or perhaps even return it back to the original state , if possible .”
For this approach to work , Dr Quek has constantly upgraded his knowledge , especially on new skills and findings .
Having now received the award , he pledges to maintain the high-quality services he offers while also reaching out into the community to provide pro-active public health awareness . He also intends to develop a collaborative approach to contributing to medical research and development .
“ Women ’ s perception and perspective towards quality of life have advanced to a higher level . Instead of living a life , as a gynaecologist , we shall work together with women to savour the flavour of life .”
