IN-PERSON GATHERINGS CELEBRATE BEST HOSPITALS

The annual awards event organised by Global Health Asia-Pacific is back in the game
The Global Health Asia-Pacific Healthcare and Hospital Awards 2021 will take place at St . Regis Hotels in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur on December 8 and 10 , respectively , to recognise the achievements of the most successful healthcare providers in the Asia-Pacific region .
Last year , the event was called off because of the social distancing restrictions put in place to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and the team at Global Health Asia-Pacific had to meet the winners individually at their hospitals .
In a clear sign that the health crisis might be improving significantly in Southeast Asia , a host of healthcare executives and experts will gather together to receive their trophies and exchange their views on the industry . The meetings , however , won ’ t keep participants in suspense because the winners were announced in October , when the team at Global Health Asia- Pacific presented them their award certificates .
Private hospitals played an important role in containing COVID-19 During these challenging times , a key achievement by private providers was to support the public sector in the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 . For this reason , the 2021 Awards featured recognition for those who excelled in this crucial area of healthcare .
Farrer Park Hospital ( FPH ) was awarded the HOspiTEL COVID-19
Healthcare Service Provider of the Year in the Asia-Pacific prize for converting One Farrer Hotel into a temporary hospital facility for patients with COVID-19 in Singapore . It also offered COVID-19 testing to strengthen national efforts to contain the infection . Samitivej Hospital received the Hospital COVID-19 Healthcare Service Provider of the Year in the Asia-Pacific Award for helping public healthcare providers in Thailand perform COV- ID-19 examinations , reduce infection risks and costs related to the outbreak .
Several hospitals in Malaysia have also received an award for their COVID-19 services .
Island Hospital , for instance , was one of the few facilities that offered drive-through COVID-19 testing in Penang . In addition , the hospital set up a
COVID-19 vaccination centre for medical professionals and frontliners .
Similarly , Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur ( PHKL ) supported the national immunisation programme , provided beds for patients with COVID-19 as well as the medical supplies needed to care for patients requiring critical care . Another winner of the Hospital COVID-19 Healthcare Service Provider of the Year in the Asia-Pacific Award , Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara provided a public hospital with ventilators and treated patients with COVID-19 .
Best hospitals of the year Mount Elizabeth Hospital ( MEH ) and Subang Jaya Medical Centre ( SJMC ) were both crowned as the Best Hospital of the Year in the Asia-Pacific .
