A leading consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist , Dr Suresh Nair runs Seed of Life , a fertility and women ’ s care medical centre at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital in Singapore .
Passionate about assisting patients who have difficulty conceiving by using the latest medical technologies , Dr Suresh has helped many couples have children even if they previously underwent unsuccessful fertility treatments , like intrauterine insemination , in vitro fertilisation ( IVF ), and laparoscopic surgeries .
He ’ s well versed in many fertility procedures , including intracytoplasmic sperm injection ( ICSI ), IVF , and ovarian tissue preservation , which treats women whose fertility is affected by cancer therapies . He can perform several egg stimulation procedures for patients undergoing IVF by using medications and the “ duo stimulation ” techniques . He ’ s also a strong proponent of preimplantation diagnosis to screen embryos before implanting them in the womb in order to reduce the risk of miscarriage or abnormalities in newborns .
In addition , Dr Suresh has extensive experience in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery and has been a pioneer in the use of robot-assisted procedures . After his initial training in the Da Vinci Robot surgery system in 2004 , he has kept up with the latest advanced robotic surgery techniques . procedure that can effectively treat common conditions in the womb , such as endometriosis adenomyosis , fibroids , and pelvic adhesions , to enhance the chances of pregnancy after failed IVF cycles .
As a testament to Dr Suresh ’ s skills , he has successfully performed many complicated surgeries for severe endometriosis , multiple large fibroids , urological incontinence , and cancer . He ’ s also an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of gynaecological cancers .
He was awarded the Singapore Government Training Programme ( HMDP ) where he spent two years training in endoscopic surgery from 1991 to 1993 in the United States , United Kingdom , France , and Germany . He also earned a Masters of Reproductive Medicine in 2009 from the University of New South Wales , Australia .
He was the past Medical Director of Parkway Fertility Centre , the assisted reproductive centre , situated at Mount Elizabeth Hospital from November 2008 to December 2011 , where about 500 fresh IVF / ICSI cycles were performed annually . A Visiting Consultant to the National University Hospital , Singapore , he also held the post of President of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Singapore from March 2009 to March 2011 and was the past President of the International College of Surgeons ( Singapore section ) from May 2012 to May 2013 .
Recognised as an expert in his field , Dr Suresh has been invited as a faculty member to lecture and conduct training programmes in assisted reproduction and endoscopic surgery at regional and international meetings and has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and written chapters in several authoritative books . He has been a keen teacher and mentor to gynaecologists in Singapore and the region .
He derives great joy and fulfilment in proctoring and guiding those who wish to improve their clinical skills but is ever willing to learn from both his senior and junior colleagues .
Helping couples conceive and helping them through the journey towards becoming a “ mum ” and “ dad ” has been and continues to be Dr Suresh Nair ’ s most fulfilling endeavour and experience driven by his passion for being a fertility doctor .
